Biography

Rangsima Deesawade (Ying) currently works with ECPAT International as a regional coordinator for South East and East Asia, based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Her work is to strengthen the roles of various stakeholders in prevention and protection of children from different forms of sexual exploitation. ECPAT mandate is to spread awareness and knowledge on existing and emerging trends; and facilitate platforms where multi-stakeholders, including CSOs, government agencies, private sector, and law enforcement agencies collaborate to protect children.

As for her background, Rangsima has had several years of experiences working with international and local NGOs in Thailand and elsewhere. She is familiar with the issue of child rights, women rights, and social development in the region. Her experiences include developing program strategy incorporating child rights and gender perspective; contributing to various research and policy papers; and organizing regional and international events in relations to the above issues. She wrote Thailand Child Rights Situational Analysis in 2015/2016 for Mahidol University, Thailand.

Rangsima received her Master Degree in South East Asia Studies from the University of Leeds, the UK. Her area of interest is to look at an evolving process of the ASEAN integration and its impact on different parts of society.
