Biography

After starting her career as an investment banker in London, Jennifer left the City to train as a professional chef with a view to starting her own business.  In 2002, she created a boutique hotel and restaurant in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Fez Medina, Morocco, which she still manages with support from her long-standing Moroccan team.  In doing so, she became one of the first solo female entrepreneurs in the city.  She also was elected to serve as Vice President of the Regional Hotel and Guesthouse Association to coordinate the sector’s activities and promote sustainable economic development in the region.

In 2014, Jennifer joined the INGO Friends International as the Lao PDR Coordinator for tourism & hospitality TVET social businesses.  In this capacity, she was responsible for ensuring the relevance and quality of training curricula as well as building the capacity of trainers and job placement officers to ensure graduates’ successful transition to employment.  In addition, she developed partnerships with local businesses to further develop opportunities for graduates, participated as a panelist in TVET symposia organized by LANITH, she also served as a panelist on the ASEAN Private Sector Development Forum: Women in Tourism (2016).

Jennifer joined Emerging Markets Consulting as Country Manager in 2016. Her project work comprises TVET and labour market assessments and modalities, monitoring & evaluation, economic development in marginalized communities, and supporting and coaching entrepreneurs.

She has an MA in International Relations from SOAS, University of London, and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for independent research in Syria.  She is also a recipient of a Cordon Bleu diploma.
